Job
Title:
Farm
Agronomist (Fellowship-to-Hire Position)
About
Gardens for Health International
At
GHI, We believe that growing and eating healthy food must be part of the
long-term solution for malnutrition. We are working to integrate agriculture
into the treatment of chronic malnutrition and we do this by partnering with
health centers to provide targeted agricultural support and comprehen

sive
health education to the caregivers of children diagnosed with malnutrition. Our
program model has proved to be working and has received huge support from
approximately 15,000 families that have benefited from it. We believe in
shifting the paradigm of dependency to one of prevention and self-sufficiency
and we are looking for team members that will continue to help us punch this
goal forward.

Farm
Vision
The
GHI farm vision contains four distinct Aims, all of which must be balanced
accordingly to meet Gardens for Health’s organizational objectives.
Aim
1: The farm is a source of food for our community lunch program and a source of
employment within our immediate community.
Aim
2: The farm strengthens our Health Center Program by providing many of the seed
and seedling inputs distributed as part of our program.
Aim
3: The farm is a “living laboratory” where we test and demonstrate the
agricultural practices described in our Health Center Program training
curriculum. It is also the visible face of our organization. We use the farm to
entertain guests and educate them about our model. It is also where we work and
serves as a daily inspiration to our staff.
Aim
4: The farm is a source of revenue for the organization.
