As the Nurse Consultant, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and health care expertise to the unit team. In this role, you will review requests for funding on out-of-province/country services, or services available through specific programs. Examples of programs under the unit’s responsibility include the Out-of-Country Health Service Committee, the Final Stage Gender Reassignment Program, and the Gamma Knife Program.
To be successful in this position, a sound understanding of the Alberta health system, the role of the Department and potential changes to benefits and services is required. As the ideal candidate, you will have a strong clinical background and a thorough knowledge of the legislation related to the provision of health services, the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan, and its programs. Your analytical skills, strong communication skills both written and verbal, and proven ability to positively influence colleagues and stakeholders to achieve outcomes will be key to success in this role.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Health Related Science plus extensive clinical work experience is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Current license or registration from appropriate professional body is required. Experience dealing in depth with complex clinical information and managing a clinical health program is an asset.
Salary
$76,812.04 to $97,836.11 per annum
