Our small environmental, charitable organization is looking for a part-time Project and Programs Director to be part of our team. Our office is located in southeast Calgary at the Bow Valley Ranch area of Fish Creek Provincial Park.
The Position: We are seeking a qualified individual to work 20 hours a week and willing to job share the existing full-time position of Project and Programs Director. You will work co-operatively with a second part-time employee to co-ordinate the Friends’ programs and projects including: Park Watch, the Watershed Stewardship Project, and Park Care. The responsibility for particular programs or projects will be allocated depending on the qualifications of the candidate hired. You will also share the responsibility for volunteer recruitment, screening, training, and monitoring, keep statistics, compile data, prepare reports, and offer educational programs for volunteers and others. Occasionally, you will be required to write a funding proposal. As part of the Friends’ team, you will also provide support to our Speaker Series and all special events, and attend internal and external meetings as needed. Some field work is involved.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
• A degree in Biology, Ecology, Zoology, or a related field preferred.
(Equivalent training and experience will be considered.)
• Strong written and spoken communications skills.
• Experience managing volunteers.
• Public speaking experience an asset.
• Standard First Aid certificate with CPR preferred, but will train.
• A police security check for working with vulnerable persons will be required.
