The Coves Environmentally Significant Area is an ecological refuge in the heart of London, Ontario. The Friends of the Coves Subwatershed Inc. (FOTCSI) is a non-profit, charitable organization that creates opportunities for the local community to get actively involved in protecting the Coves environment. FOTCSI is lead by a volunteer Board of Directors with eight members. FOTCSI’s main focus areas are: public green space, stewardship, ecosystem rehabilitation & monitoring and education.
Position Outline
This position will require a dynamic individual with varied experience. The appropriate candidate will be a well-organized and enthusiastic self-starter. This will be a full-time, contract position based in an office in Wortley Village, London, Ontario.
The Program Manager will be responsible for various program and administration duties, including:
• Rehabilitation project management
• Event planning & coordination
• Volunteer management
• Production of communications and outreach materials
• Fundraising
• Membership administration
• Office administration and management
Required Qualifications
• College diploma or University degree in environmental science/studies, or another applicable field.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Knowledge of and interest in local flora and fauna.
• Passion to protect the environment and to inspire the same in others.
• Leadership experience.
The following are desired asset qualifications:
• Experience with delivering environmental education
• Experience producing public outreach materials (articles, posters, websites, brochures, etc.). Please provide samples when applying.
• Experience planning a rehabilitation/naturalization project.
• Experience hand-planting stock (bareroot, potted, plugs, or seed) in a rehabilitation/naturalization project.
• Working experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop).
• Experience recruiting and/or supervising volunteers.
• Experience working as a volunteer.
