driven and ex

perienced Account Executive (Manager of PR and Publicity)
who will report to the Associate Director of PR and Publicity. The candidate
should have approximately two – three years of experience working in public
relations and demonstrate an ability to manage programs, relationships and a
team.

The position is based out of Free The Children’s
International office in Toronto (233 Carlton Street). A minimum two-year
commitment is expected. Salary is to be discussed. There is a three (3) month
probationary period, upon reaching the three (3) month period, all staff
members are offered a health plan including dental and Employee Assistant
Program.

Responsibilities:
  • Report to the Associate Director of PR and
    Publicity, Free The Children
  • Manage and mentor PR coordinators
  • Active participation in meetings with other
    business units and external partners
  • Create and execute strategic PR plans to
    support Free The Children campaigns and events across North America and
    the UK
  • Oversee and develop media materials and key
    messaging
  • Media training & media relations
  • Event management and execution for
    youth-focused, and regional community events
  • Coordinate, prepare and facilitate interviews
    with Free The Children spokespeople, ambassadors, etc. in relation to Free
    The Children campaigns and events
  • Assist in day-to-day team management and
    mentorship
  • Administer the highest level of quality
    control
  • Available for travel across Canada and
    internationally, work evenings and weekends where necessary
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Approximately 2 – 3 years of experience
    working in public relations
  • Experience in and proven understanding of
    successes in media relations
  • Strong relationships with media across Canada
    (U.S. an asset)
  • Capable of demonstrating strong diplomatic and
    critical listening skills
  • Extremely organized with the ability to
    multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Superior verbal and written communication
    skills with the ability to articulate in a clear, concise and compelling
    manner
  • Intuition for interpersonal relationships and
    relationship building
  • Extremely proactive with the ability to
    provide prompt follow through on projects
  • An organized self-starter, with the ability to
    work well both independently and as a team
  • Ability to accept specific direction, with an
    outstanding work ethic
  • Positive, enthusiastic, presentable and
    comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Communications,
    Journalism, English or PR-related discipline and/or relevant experience in
    the field
  • Proficiency with electronic communication,
    computing, and other systems that comprise the modern working environment
