Food borne illness

Center for Disease Control [CDC] (2010) states that
food borne illness is an infections or irritations of gastrointestinal tract
caused by food or beverages that contain harmful bacteria, parasites, virus or
chemicals. The gastrointestinal tract is a series of hollow organ found in a
long twisting tube from the mouth to the anus. Food borne illness may be acute
or chronic. Each year an estimated 48 million people in the United States
experience a food borne illness. Food borne illness cause about 300 deaths in
the United States annually.
Food borne illness causing organisms are: Bacillus cereus,
camphylobacter jejuni, clostridium perfringes, Hepatitis A, listeria
monocytogenes, shigella, salmonella, staphylococcus aureus, vibro para
haemolyticus.
