Food and Drugs Port of Entry Inspectors (16)

Directorate : Food and Drugs Import Export Control Unit
Location : Designated port of entry in Rwanda
Job Purpose
– To Ensure compliance with the law and regulations related to import and export of the regulated products by controlling the importation and exportation of the regulated products (human and veterinary medicines, vaccines and other biological products, processed foods, poisons, medicated cosmetics, medical devices, household chemical substances, tobacco & tobacco products) at port of entry in Rwanda. Duties and Responsibilities
– To plan and conduct inspections of consignments of the regulated products at designated ports of entry into Rwanda in a timely manner so as to meet the agreed service delivery timelines and customer satisfaction.
– Authorize clearance of consignments that meet the requirements of Rwanda FDA.
– Raise a query note for those consignments that are suspected to be defective or are of questionable quality, and maintain a chain of evidence.
– If necessary, collect free sample of a consignments for analysis and submit to the QC Laboratory.
– Request the importer or exporter to provide information, documents, or any other assistance considered necessary for quality investigation of the consignment.
– To Collect and maintain data and trends on imports and exports of products regulated by the Rwanda FDA, with respect to consignments inspected, released or cleared, queried and rejected.
– To Participate in the development of guidelines, manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other QMS documents relating to the process of inspection of the regulated products at the ports of entry.
– To Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time by Supervisor. |
Job Profile
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Food Sciences& Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine. Key Technical Skills Knowledge Required:
– Ability and willingness to participate in field activities, frequently, and sometimes beyond normal working hours;
– High organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

– Time management skills;
– Advanced Computer skills;
– Team work skills;
– Time management skills;
– Fluent in Kinyarwanda, English and/ or French language, knowledge of all is an advantage.
