Fintrac is seeking a
Chief of Party to manage the anticipated five-year USAID/Rwanda Orora Wihaze – Increased
Protein for Dietary Diversity activity. Orora Wihaze’s
objective is to promote the production, processing, distribution, and
commercialization of animal-source foods to increase the availability and
consumption of protein in Rwanda.
The Chief of Party
will provide ov
erall leadership and general technical direction of the entire
program, ensuring an integrated vision, with a focus on achieving the results
defined in the contract. Responsible for identifying issues and risks related to
program implementation in a timely manner, and suggesting appropriate program
adjustments. Will be the key liaison between USAID/Rwanda and all other
counterparts, implementing partners and Government of Rwanda officials involved
with the program. Requires significant coordination skills, broad general and
technical knowledge, and skills to ensure coherence and consistency despite
urgent deadlines.
Requirements:
- Master’s
degree in livestock management, agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural
economics, or related field. - Minimum
ten (10) years of progressively responsible international work experience
implementing livestock or agricultural development programs with
demonstrated strong management and coordinating skills. - At
least five (5) years of management experience of projects of similar
complexity with experience directly supervising teams and support staff
and assembling teams. The COP will preferably have experience managing
private sector development or gender mainstreaming projects. - Previous
management experience for USAID-funded projects in livestock, agriculture,
agribusiness development and/or food security. Equivalent leadership
positions for other donors and/or initiatives will be considered. (Rwanda
experience preferred). - Strong
technical expertise in livestock and/or dairy production processing,
distribution, and/or commercialization. Meat, live animal and/or dairy
value chain experience required. - Ability
to productively interact with a wide range of actors (government, private
sector, NGOs and research institutions). - Excellent
interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to manage
high-level relationships and motivate subordinates. - Excellent
verbal and written communication skills. - Fluency
in English required; knowledge of Kinyarwanda and/or French preferred.
