Arctic Co-operatives Limited (ACL) provides management expertise and business supports to 31 member-owned Co-ops in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. The Co-ops operate diverse and progressive retail businesses, including Inns North, a group of 20 independently-owned hotels. Network Administrator

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure Services, the position will provide primary support for the Home Office and its subsidiaries’ server platforms, desktop environments, and networking in accordance with the operational service strategies established to support the business needs and goals; while meeting or exceeding established departmental service levels with the ultimate goal of providing highly available; secure; cost effective; and innovative products, programs, and services. As a member of the IT Division and as a member of the broader organizational team, the position is instrumental in the delivery of continuous improvement efforts and a high degree of inter-company collaboration towards achieving and maintaining organizational customer service excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities
Assume primary responsibility in support of the server platforms:
o Server hardware & software maintenance and support;
o Centralized storage configuration, management, and support (SAN);
o Server backups, tape management, and file / data recovery;
o Network management (local and inter-site networking LAN/WAN);
o Internet connectivity / security (i.e. VPN, Firewall);
o Windows “Active Directory” platform integration and administration;
o Microsoft application/services support (i.e. E-mail) ;
o Server-level / network disaster recovery;
o Server Anti-Virus and security patching management systems;
o Web content management;
o Performance monitoring, automated alerting, etc.;
o Capacity planning/trending;
o Computer room infrastructure (cooling, UPS, security, etc.

Assume primary responsibility in support of the desktop environments:
o Provide help desk and desktop support in the use of computer systems and related applications;
o Provide technical support on the general use of computer technology and providing user training where necessary;
o Repair and maintain computer equipment as needed;
o Support and maintain printing environments

Other duties as follows:
Administer computer asset management process in accordance to established frameworks. Assist with the support of the Member Co-operatives in the use of computer systems and related applications, and POS equipment as required.
Prepare and maintain system documentation and user manuals.
Record details of all support calls, and perform the problem resolution follow-ups as per defined service levels.
Travel to Co-operatives located throughout the Arctic as needed to support the annual computer maintenance program requirements.
Assist the department manager with the computing system architecture implementation and management aimed at implementing industry best practices, ensuring consistency, and provisioning for appropriate levels of interoperability between systems.
Assist the department manager with the development and implementation of pro-active frameworks to achieve excellent levels of availability and reliability.
Vendor interaction in pursuit of hardware/computer application problem resolutions.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in computer science or equivalent designations;
3-5 years experience performing system administration and network support functions in a multi-site client-server Microsoft Windows / Linux LAN/WAN environment; and providing end-user support in a customer service desktop support role;
Substantial experience with Server/Networking hardware, operating systems and software; networking principles, implementations and configurations; and problem-solving methodologies;
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft productivity software (Microsoft Office);
Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team;
Experience with training and development of staff;
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
Familiarity with high-speed satellite communications would be considered a strong asset;
Ability to travel as required.
