JOB
OBJECTIVE TOWARDS CORPORATE VISION
The
ultimate goal for FH Canada staff is to honor God by empowering the most
vulnerable. As an IMED team member our unique objective is to be a voice and
advocate for the most vulnerable, as well as be the voice of Food for the
Hungry (Canada) and its leadership.
In

Specifically
the Biomedical Technician prepares and ships biomedical equipment that meets
the needs of the most vulnerable in the communities FH Canada and its partners
serve.
Key
Performance Indicators:
  1. Being
    an effective Team Member – regularly attending morning meeting, staff
    development and events, observing and contributing in meetings,
    self-managing and following instructions to completion, maintaining a
    positive attitude, a spirit of cooperation, and contributing to a healthy
    office environment.
  1. Equipment
    Repair and Testing – equipment troubleshooting, repairing and refurbishing
    equipment, parts sourcing, modifying equipment, power conversions, lifting
    and transporting equipment, deinstalling equipment from donor sites.
  1. Inventory
    Management – tracking all equipment that comes into the warehouse,
    maintaining an inventory service database, reporting inventory, completing
    yearly audit count, location proofing, collecting records, maintain
    gift-in-kind (GIK) records, recycling unserviceable equipment.
  1. Biomedical
    Department Management – maintaining an organized department, advising
    others, training summer employee(s), training and supervising
    volunteer(s).
  1. Container
    Finalization – preparing equipment to be sent to specific fields in a
    timely manner, managing database to accurately track items, maintaining
    service library, assisting in packaging equipment to ensure successful
    arrival.
  1. Advocate
    FH brand – may include: warehouse tours, representing IMED/FH at
    conferences/workshops, participate in production of marketing materials,
    travel to FH international field offices, advocating for IMED and FH
    causes, etc.
SKILLS
AND BEHAVIOUR REQUIRED:

Preferred minimum five years experience in the biomedical and non-profit fields

Biomedical Electronics Technologist (BMET) degree preferred, though those with
an Electrical Engineering degree may apply

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), the Internet,
and general aptitude for database systems

Ability to coordinate many diverse projects/priorities simultaneously and meet
pressingdeadlines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Level of comfort and professionalism (in manner and appearance) when
representing FH Canada to the public

Ability to work independently and interdependently within an integrated team

Experience communicating with those of a different culture and/or experience
working in a developing country would be an asset
SALARY
AND BENEFITS:

Full time position, 37.5 hours a week

Salary dependent on experience and abilities

Vacation per FH Canada policy: three weeks

Ten paid sick leave days per year

Medical Insurance Benefits (after three months of employment)
