Wage: Remuneration will be $12 to $14 per hour depending on experience

Ferme Aube aux champs / Grazing Days is seeking an individual who is able to
work full time from the beginning of May until the end of August, is hard
working, motivated, interested in intensive rotational grazing and grass, and
believes in quality local food.

About the Farm:

Ferme Aube aux champs / Grazing Days (http://www.grazingdays.ca)
sells quality grass-fed Angus beef raised on the farm directly to families who
live in and around Ottawa / Gatineau through CSA (Community Shared Agriculture)
boxes. A closer look at our farm reveals that we are about much more than
grass-fed beef – we stand for a more sustainable community and creating a world
that we would like to live in. Properly managed grazing of cattle improves the
health of our soils, protects our streams, rivers and aquifers, sequesters
carbon, and is an effective way to harvest solar energy.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Grazing, Grassland and Herd Management Assistant will work closely with the
farmer on all aspects of managing the farm’s grasslands, maintaining the farm
ecosystem’s health and tending the livestock on the farm.

Specific tasks may include:
• Planting trees
• Protecting watersheds and wetlands
• Building fence infrastructure
• Taking down old fencing infrastructure
• Planning and executing grazing and haying rotations
• Maintaining animal health
• Delivery of grass-fed beef to customers

The Grazing, Grassland and Herd Management Assistant will be supervised and
mentored directly by the owner / farmer behind Grazing Days / Ferme Aube aux
champs. This mentorship will be directed by the Grazing, Grassland and Herd
Management Assistant.

Job Requirements
• Transportation to the farm. (On farm accommodation could be an option).
• Willingness to work outside in all weather.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (boxes, fence posts, etc.)
• Ability to drive / operate a tractor, and farm machinery is a strong asset,
but not essential
• Background in a related field (Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Biology, or
Environmental Science) is an asset but not essential
• Experience with cattle is a strong asset but not essential
• Be able to happily work with others
• Ferme Aube aux champs / Grazing Days practices employment equity and
