FAWE (Forum for
African Women Educationalists) is a non-governmental African organization
operating in 33 African countries with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. FAWE
was created in 1992 with the purpose to promote education for girls and young
women who had been excluded from the education system. FAWE Rwanda Chapter, one
of FAWE national chapters, started in 1997, and its mission is to promote
gender equity and equality in education in Rwanda by fostering positive
policies, practices and attitudes towards girls’ education. Since the day it
was founded, the chapter has keenly participated in altering the gender
landscape and attitudes towards girls’ education in Rwanda from the policy to a
community levels.
FAWE Rwanda, in
partnership with FAWE Regional Secretariat and The Master Card Foundation is
planning to implement a Scholarship Program that will benefit 1,200 girls
during a period of 10 years. It is in this context that FAWE Rwanda is
recruiting the following staff:
1.
Program Coordinator (Re-Advertised)
Main Purpose and
Scope:
The Program
Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all the MCF Scholars Program
activities and events to ensure that goals and objectives specified by the
program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time lines,
funding and other specifications.
Key duties and
responsibilities:
- Act as
the focal point for the MCF Scholars Program at FAWE Rwanda Secretariat; - Coordinate
the overall strategy for the program and all activities associated with
the program: planning, implementing and delivering the program; - Oversee
daily operations and coordinate the program activities, determining
priorities; - Plan
and organize events as planned in the project document; - Facilitate
communications between FAWE Rwanda and the program stakeholders at the
national level; - Prepare
and submit periodic reports as required; - Make
sure that the MCF Scholars Program visibility and publicity requirements
are thoroughly followed; - Establish
strong partnership with partner organizations, and institutions involved
in the project implementation, which includes drafting written agreements
that outline the program parameters and expectations from each partner; - Carry
out any other task that supports the good functioning of the project and
the organization.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in
Project Management, Development Studies or another related field, with at least
working experience of 5 years in these fields.
Skills and
competencies:
• Prior working
experience in Project management/coordination;
• Strategic
problem-solving;

written communication skills;

English (knowledge of Trench would be an asset);

2.
Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (1) Re-Advertised
Main Purpose and
Scope: The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer is responsible for developing the
project M&E systems focused on data collection, data management and
analysis and reporting to ensure result-based programming.
Key duties and
responsibilities:
- Guide
and manage the development and implementation a clear M& E plan for
the MCF project; - Prepare
monitoring tools in collaboration with FAWE RS M&E Officer; - Ensure
that the project database is created; - Ensure
that the established database is regularly updated to enable the
fulfillment of periodic reporting obligations; - Undertake
regular visits to monitor project processes; - Collect
and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, as well as report on
findings from monitoring activities; - Produce
periodic M&E reports for the MCF project partner group; - Support
the project staff in matters of individual planning, activity
implementation, monitoring and reporting; - Produce
periodic M&E reports for the MCF partner group; - Support
the Program Coordinator to respond to any query related to the database; - Support
FAWE Rwanda Secretariat for the annual review and re-planning process; - Carry
out any other task for the good running of the project and the
organization.
Job Requirements
Qualification
A minimum of a
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, preferably Sociology, Education or
Project Management, with a minimum of 5 years experience in the monitoring and
evaluation of social and educational programs.
Skills and
competencies:
- Prior
experience with performance monitoring and evaluation for social and
educational programs, including developing performance indicators, data
collection and analysis; - Good
knowledge of program cycle management - Strong
analytical skills; - Excellent
oral and written communication skills; - Good
computer skills, especially statistical analysis using SPSS, Ms Access,
Excel, among others; - A good
command of English (knowledge of French is an asset); - Excellent

3.
Accountant (1) Re-Advertised
Main Purpose and
Scope: The Accountant
will be responsible for applying accepted accounting principles statements, and
ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
Key duties and
responsibilities
- Ensure
that project related disbursements are carried out in a timely and
efficient manner; (insure smooth flow of funds to enable timely
implementation of activities, including timely replenishment of the
project account; - Maintain
a logical and comprehensive record of financial transactions, with
supporting documentation, for reference and audit purposes; - Prepare
monthly project bank reconciliation; - Compile
monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in a timely manner, with
focus on the financial delivery of the project; - Review
timesheets and pay slips for staff involved in the project; - Create
and update an asset register for the project; - Investigate
the project budget variances and interpret them; - Provide
the necessary assistance and documentation for statutory audit of annual
financial statements; - Assist
in the development of the annual work plans and budgets for the project; - Carry
out any other task for the good running of the project and the
organization.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree
in Accounting or equivalent; with a minimum of 3 years experience in the
management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, and financial
data analysis.
