FarmFolk CityFolk (FFCF) is an established non-profit charitable organization
that works province wide with farm and city to cultivate a local, sustainable
food system.
Reporting to the Events Manager in Vancouver, the Metro Vancouver Feast of
Fields Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating our Metro Vancouver
Feast of Fields fundraising event in 2016 and 2017. This is a contract position
from year to year with normal planning beginning February/March and ending
October 30 or thereabouts each year.
The 2016 contract will be a partial contract, as job shadowing with the Event
Manager will take place from June – September, 2016. The 2017 contract would
increase in hours and compensation.
In 2016, It is expected that time requirements are casual leading up to
part-time throughout the contract with full-time work from August until after
the event (September 11th, 2016) with continued casual work until wrap-up by
the end of September.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are seeking a contract for 2016 only, do not apply. We
are seeking a time commitment of at least two years. This position suits
someone who has other forms of income (if needed) throughout the year.
Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields Coordinator:
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Represent FarmFolk CityFolk in a professional manner.
• Organize a volunteer team to assist you in coordinating the event (we have a
fabulous volunteer team that changes slightly each year, so some recruiting of
new volunteer team members may be necessary.)
• Coordination of event including solicitation of cash sponsors and supply and
services (in-kind) sponsors, obtaining all legal licenses and certificates as
required, etc.
• Take responsibility in performing all tasks of event coordination should any
member of your Volunteer Team be unable to fulfill their commitments.
• Regular monitoring and reporting of event budget (actual vs. estimated) and
striving to reduce expenses while increasing revenues to ensure a successful
fundraising effort.
• Check in regularly with Volunteer Team and Events Manager to monitor
timelines and activities.• Carry out post-event analysis, including your report,
volunteer team reports, recommendations for potential continuation of event,
and final budget.
• Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience coordinating large scale special events.
• Experience working in a fundraising/sales environment is an asset.
• Experience recruiting, working with, and managing volunteers.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and other project
management software. Indesign skill/graphic design skills is an asset.
• Able to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
• Able to work well on your own and with a volunteer team.
• Knowledge of local media
• Able to work occasional weekends and evenings leading up to event, through
the duration of the event, and to complete all post-event tasks.
• Knowledge of and connection to Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland’s farm,
wine, and micro-brewery communities, restaurant communities, and potential
suppliers, sponsors and volunteers.
• Ability to follow Event Manager’s direction
• Driver’s license and car an asset
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be based on the scale and budget of the event, which will be
determined together by FFCF Events Manager and Executive Director. Estimated at
$4000 (partial contract) for 2016 and $12,000 for 2017.
