Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia is a cooperative of 22 farmers’ markets from Cape North to Yarmouth. We provide marketing, training and technical support to our members as well as managing projects.
The Executive Director of Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia will be taking approximately 6 months of maternity leave from early November 2011 and needs a reliable, mature office administrator to keep the office running smoothly for the duration of her time away.
This is a full time position (37.5 hrs per week), based in Halifax, with the annual equivalent salary of $25,000 (pro-rated to 6 months). There will be no requirement for extensive travel, but access to a vehicle would be useful for occasional meetings.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the work of volunteers, contractors and interns both in the office and at a distance.
• Keep the finances of the organization updated including invoicing, managing petty cash and ensuring invoices are paid in a timely fashion.
• Coordinate project activities such as booking locations and managing sign-ups for events.
• Respond to email and telephone requests for information and/or direct them accordingly.
• Write content, edit and mail out the monthly E-newsletter and maintain the social media presence of FMNS.
• Web maintenance.

• Strong writing skills;
• And/Or the ability to acquire this knowledge fast.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who can be trained, on their own time, over the course of the two weeks preceding the start of the position. Oversight will be provided by the board of directors with support from the Executive Director throughout the 6 months of the position.
