TITLE:  Program Coordinator
REPORT
DIRECTELY TO:  Faith Victory Association (FVA) Executive Director and
Programs Manager
Faith
Victory Association (FVA) in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS)
will be implementing USAID-funded Gikuriro program in Kayonza district.
Gikuriro Program is a 5 years USAID-funded program focusing on saving using
SILC approach, Food security and Nutritio

n and WASH service delivery. Gikuriro
programas an Integrated Nutrition and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Activity
project, is to improve the nutritional status of women of reproductive age and
children under five years of age, with an emphasis on the 1,000 day window of
opportunity from pregnancy until a child’s second birthday.

It
is with this background that, FVA would like to request qualified people with
ability to perform for the following positions to send their application
requests.
Program
coordinator
The
Program Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day implementation of
activities and reporting to FVA and ensure smooth implementation of the
GIKURIRO PROGRAM.
The
Program Coordinator will undertake a variety of administrative and program
management tasks and will help in planning and organizing Gikuriro program
activities as well as carry out important operational duties of the program.
Through the partnership with local leaders, Gikuriro Program Coordinator will
ensure the promotion of food security and economic strengthening, WASH and Nutrition
in Kayonza district. The Program coordinator will be based in Kayonza district
and directly works closely with the program team in the district and ensure a
smooth delivery of the program activities and the success of the overall
program implementation in this District.
Roles
and Responsibilities
Project
management
  • Coordination
    of Gikuriro program activities in Kayonza district;
  • Be
    responsible to support the day-to-day management of the project in
    KAYONZADistrict to ensure its effective, efficient and cost-sensitive
    management.
  • Ensure
    the Project Activity Plan, terms and conditions for funding are
    effectively implemented and the terms of the project partnership agreement
    are upheld.
  • Review,
    and where necessary revise project work plans for effective and efficient
    implementation of the project.
  • Engage
    in community mobilisation and sensitisation on project plans and intended
    outcomes.
  • Support
    in planning of Gikuriro program activities and supervise the
    implementation to achieved the anticipated results of ending malnutrition
    in the district;
  • Forecast
    the budget planned for activities and ensure the compliance;
  • Manage
    communications with the internal and external parties;
  •  Build
    team spirit and positive relations within Gikuriro program team in Kayonza
    district;
  • Schedule
    and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda;
  • Work
    closely with M&E to ensure timely data collection, monthly, quarterly
    and annual reporting;
  •  Planning,
    data collection and monthly, quarterly and annual reporting;
  • Support
    growth and program development
  • Work
    closely with community leaders, local leaders and district authorities to
    deepen relationship with the target beneficiaries and their institutions,
    Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and duty bearers in the project areas
    through frequent discussions and organised capacity building programs.
  • Identify
    training gaps of women groups and facilitate designing capacity building
    programs.
  • Update
    the FVA Executive Director and CRS Project Manager on the project progress
    and challenges.
  • Build
    an information base for best practices in Nutrition, WASH, economic
    empowerment and sustainable agriculture and share best practices with
    other national stakeholders.
  • Coordinate
    and network with the government institutions and other organisations at
    District level.
Coordination
  • Ensure
    the overall coordination of the project activities in KAYONZA District.
  • Coordinate
    the activity plans of the project officers
  • Ensure
    the coordination of the activities of the community based organisations
  • Coordinate
    with other interveners in the nutrition, water and sanitation and hygiene
    and economic development field to ensure the synergy and complementarity.
  • Support
    and ensure the coordinated efforts in project implementation to achieve
    set outputs and outcomes.
Required
Skills and Experience:
  • University
    degree or equivalentin nutrition, pubic health, social sciences or in
    other related field with at least 4 years of experience in community
    development projects or a Master’s degree with at least 2 years of
    experience;
  •  Strong
    background in nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene with an experience
    in applying CBFNP and CBEHPP;
  • Experience
    with Strong background in saving groups, financial literacy, growth
    monitoring and nutrition education, nutrition rehabilitation and cooking
    demonstrations;
  • Having
    strong bio-intensive agricultural techniques knowledge, Village Nutrition
    approach;
  •  Proven
    experience as program/project coordinator or relevant position;
  • Knowledge
    of program management and development procedures;
  •  Knowledge
    of budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting;
  • Good
    facilitation, negotiation, networking and advocacy skills
  • Develops
    and encourages new and innovative solutions
  • Proficiency
    in the use of standard computer software, especially Microsoft office
    packages.
  • Excellent
    time-management and organizational skills;
  • With
    strong communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda verbal and written,
    knowledge of French is an added advantage.
  • Detail-oriented
    and efficient.
  • Experience
    working with USAID funded projects is an added advantage.
  • Must
    possess participatory development skills.
  • An
    understanding of local knowledge and culture will be an asset.
  • Must
    possess analytical skills in public policy and laws relevant to the
    project and have quality understanding of social mobilization and
    community empowerment principles.
  • Strong
    writing and communications skills in particular understanding and use of
    social media platforms, media engagement and developing communications
    strategies/plans.
  • Possesses
    driving license Category A is an added value.
