Summary
Our client is a new manufacturing company registered in Kenya in 2009. Their objective is to establish a polyethylene foam manufacturing plant in Nairobi. The end products will be applied in the construction industry for insulation, water-proofing and sound proofing. Leaking roofs are a major problem in this country and their products will provide a solution.
These products will also be applied in industrial packaging and for leisure e.g. mats for gymnastics, and cushioning materials for sofa, bed and chair. The products are revolutionary because they can replace most of the existing materials in the market due to their outstanding characteristics and competitive prices compared to other materials for similar purposes.
The Factory Manager is responsible for the overall organization, management direction and control of all factory functions and to ensure that production output meets set quality and forecast requirements
Primary Responsibilities
• Drive profitability, create, implement and manage business strategies to achieve the Company’s objectives and to provide continual stimulus to its growth and operational efficiency.
• Ensure continuous improvement in all areas of operations.
• Ensure total quality management to meet and exceed customer’s requirements.
• Develop and oversee budgets, plans and programs to ensure the optimum utilization of available equipment, space, facility and human resource necessary to attain manufacturing objectives.
• Critically review and monitor operating results and to specifically update and recommend to the General Manager on issues affecting Quality and Profitability.
• Develop and prioritize tactical plans to assure achievement of factory operational goals.
• Optimize production capacity in relation to finished goods inventory requirement.
• Assure minimal back order status and adequate service levels through close liaison among marketing, production, store and materials personnel.
• Assure desired level of product quality.
• Assure maintenance of product standards through vigilant administration of high manufacturing standard, employee awareness and training programs, adherence to high level of housekeeping standards etc.
• Assure competency and continuity of managerial and specialized personnel are fully capable of achieving management and manufacturing objectives through training and motivation.
• Provide positive employee relations to ensure the achievement of productivity objectives and maintenance of high morale at all levels within the workforce.
• Formulate, develop and implement policies and action plans to maximize production.
• Develop strategic vision for operations direction and performance requirement to align with Company’s mission and objectives.
• Perform any other related duties as Management may require from time to time.
Skills and Requirements
• Degree holder in a Technology related field or its equivalent
• Experience and qualifications in Mechanical Engineering will be an advantage
• Possess at least 5 years experience in the Manufacturing Industry with proven management skills at middle to senior management level
• Be innovative and result oriented with a proven track record of integrity, accountability and implementation
• Ability to work on your own and as a team member.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good time management and planning skills.
• Knowledge of production machinery and techniques.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings.
• Ability to solve complex manufacturing problems.
• Ability to influence and strong accountability.
