of Interest for “Constructions of Border Beacons” First published date:

The
Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmhHsupports
African countries in implementing the AU Border Programme, which consists of three
pillars: Delimitation & Demarcation; Cross-Border Cooperation; and Capacity
Development. The Governments of Rwanda and Uganda have already started their
joint delimitation and demarcation exercis

e on the eastern part of their common
border, between Gatuna/Katuna border post and the Akagera river. To finalise
that part of the boundary, an additional 22 border beacons are to be
constructed by a capable and experienced enterprise. The field work is expected
to be carried out throughout the month of October. The successful bidder will
need to work very closely with the Rwanda-Uganda Joint Survey Team, which will
indicate the exact location of the border beacons. Please note that some
beacons may have to be built in very remote areas and that materials may have
to be transported by local porters.
