• Identify and implement exploration programs
• Mid Sized Canadian Mining Company that operates gold and diamond mines in West
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Exploration Geologist to be leading the exploration program in Liberia.
Reporting to the VP exploration you will lead a small team of geologists and assistants and your responsibilities will include:
• Direct and manage the company’s exploration activities in Liberia and elsewhere as directed by the company, including
o Development and implementation of exploration strategies and plans
o Recruitment and management of the team
o Preparation, with support from finance and accounting staff, the exploration budgets
• Identify and implement exploration programs inside budget whose objectives are to lead to new discoveries and increasing Mineral Resources and Reserves.
• Monitor business opportunity in Liberia.
• Monitor and ensure Quality Control and Quality Insurance programs are in place and effectively working to the level of international standards.
• Supervise and manage the activities of direct reports
• Ensure employees achieve their full potential by gaining new skills through your personal mentoring or external training
• Ensure effective communication of company policies
• Ensure safety and health are defined, implemented and improved regularly to risk reduction
• Ensure all legal requirements are met in time, and in a properly manner to comply with Liberia government policies and law.
• Establish and maintain good relationship with government officials
The successful applicant will have:
– Ten plus years in a senior exploration management position, at least 5 of which have been in gold exploration
– Significant international experience in managing exploration in multiple countries and a capability of working in a variety of different cultures.
– Significant experience with West African gold belts and the associated exploration techniques.
– Experience in grassroots to mine site/brownfields exploration and resource and reserve development.
– Proven track record of finding economic ore bodies.
– Proven track record of leadership and experience in attracting and retaining a high-quality team.
– Mineral Resource Management experience is an asset.
