Position: Project Coordinator

Evergreen is a charity that inspires action to green cities. Evergreen
strives to solve pressing urban environmental issues by bringing
people together, inspiring them with possibilities and engaging them
in identifying solutions and taking action.

This Evergreen program team member will coordinate and deliver tours
of Evergreen Brick Works and nature walks on the surrounding trails.
They will also support the development and implementation of the PanAm
Path community festival and related programming.


Key Responsibilities:
• Planning and coordination of the PanAm Path community festival (June
2015) in collaboration with other organizations
• Leading groups of 10 – 50 members of the public safely through tours
of Evergreen Brick Works as well on walks around the city and in the
surrounding ravine trails
• Outreach and relationship-building with Lower Don trail partners, as
well as internal program representatives, in support of Evergreen’s
walks and tours at Evergreen Brick Works and along the PanAm Path
• Booking, scheduling, and follow-up for public and private tours and
nature walks for all program areas
• Volunteer management, including orientation, scheduling, ongoing
training, and recognition.
• Supporting program development, outreach and marketing
• Ensuring accurate and thorough program tracking and evaluation

Reporting Relationships:
• Supervised by: Project Manager, Evergreen Brick Works
• Supervises: title(s) of direct reports: Volunteers, part-time Tour
Guide and Walk Leaders

Qualifications:
• At least 2 years work experience in education, event management,
tour-guiding, customer service, project coordination or similar;
• Excellent communication, presentation and public speaking skills;
• Strong outreach and collaboration skills; able to work effectively
with diverse colleagues and stakeholders;
• Track record offering a respectful and welcoming experience to
diverse community members, regardless of income, abilities, age,
cultural/ethnic background, or gender.
• Proven organizational, time-management and planning skills, with
demonstrated ability to prioritize well and meet strict deadlines;
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office), social media skills, and
familiarity with databases;
• Solid knowledge of urban ecology and sustainability issues, a strong asset.
• CPR and first-aid, an asset
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License, an asset.
• Bi- or Mulit-lingual, an asset

Working conditions:
• Working outdoors, occasionally in inclement weather
• Hours will vary seasonally, with some evening and weekend work
required. Must be available most Sunday mornings.

Physical requirements:
• Walking 3-10 km on uneven trails, with some short breaks
• Office work

Terms of contract:
• One year contract, June 2014 through July 2015
• Approximately 16-32 hrs/week
