Evangelical Association of Malawi in collaboration with Sett Help
Africa, Action Aid, Plan International and ADRA with funding from the European
Union will be implementing a programme called BETTER. BETTER with total funding
of €14.6 million with EU contributing €13.96 million is a five year progamne
that aims at increasing the resilience, food nutrition, and income security of
402,000 smallholder farmers in the 10 districts of Karonga, Chitipa, Mzimb

a,
Kasungu, Nkhata Bay, Nkhotakota, Salima, Chiradzulu, Thyolo and Mulanje. BETTER
is part of the KULIMA (Kutukula Ulimi mMalawi Programme). KULIMA Programme with
an estimated cost of €111,000,000 is funded by the EU contributing €100 ,000,000,
and with joint co-financed by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United
Nations (FAO) and German Cooperation. The BETTER progamme has the following
specific objectives: to strengthen agricultural extension services through
13,400 FFS groups in order to secure effective and productive services for
smallholder farmers in 10 KULIMA districts; to increase the
absorptive/anticipatory, adaptive and transformative capacities of 402,000
smallholder farmers to adapt to adverse effects of climate change and improve
food security in 78 EPAs in 10 KULIMA districts; to improve food security for
402100 farmers through effective livelihood diversification and technology
transfer.

Evangelical Association of Malawi would like
recruit the following position at its districts offices in Salima and
Nkhotakota:
Field Officers (4 Posts) 
Tenable in Nkhotakota (2) and Salima (2).  The
Field Officer for the BETTER Programme will be responsible for the community
mobilization and delivery of different project activities. The Development
Facilitation would also be responsible for producing activity weekly monthly
and quarterly reports for the different community activities. The incumbent
will directly work with targeted communities in Nkhotakota and Salima districts
to facilitate the identification, establishment, running and graduation of the
FFS.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
·        
Minimum
of a Diploma and in Rural/Community Development, agriculture and other relevant
development studies
·        
Minimum
of 4 years experience in coordinating rural development projects including food
and livelihoods or related projects.
·        
A good
understanding of project cycle management approaches, project appraisal,
monitoring and evaluation and partners’ capacity building.
·        
Experience
in budgeting and development of monthly work plans
·        
Good
knowledge and understanding of key aspects of development work, including food,
nutrition and livelihood security, cross-cutting themes (eg. gender,
environment, HIV/AIDS), and integration of disaster mitigation and climate
change Response in development programming
·        
Experience
in writing activity weekly, monthly and quarterly reparts on different
programme activities
·        
Some
experience in M&E including capturing of key programme data and indicators
supporting periodic assessments and populating the indicator performance
tracking tables and other M&E tools
·        
Skills in
training/facilitation of development processes. including organ ization and
mobilization of communities and networking among different development partners
such as community-based organisations, government officers and SHA staff
·        
Previous
work experience in working with Farmer Field Schools would be an added
advantage.
