Abstract
This seminar work is titled “effect of
tobacco smoking on human health”. Tobacco products are product made entirely or
partly of leaf tobacco as raw material, which are intended to be smoked, sucked,
chewed or snuffed. Components of tobacco include tar, nicotine, carbon monoxide,
nitrogen oxides, some of the causes of tobacco smoking include social
integration, peer pressure, to feel relaxed, weight control, stress removal. The
types of tobacco include smoke tobacco, smokeless tobacco. Some effect of
tobacco smoking includes certain diseases such as impotence, female
infertility, cancer, respiratory disease, stains teeth, affect heart and blood
vessel. The prevention and control of tobacco smoking include; picture warning
work, mass media campaign, bans on tobacco advertising, policies and programs, increasing
the price of tobacco products. It is therefore recommended that there should be
enforcement of pictorial warning label on cigarette, seminars should be organized
by professional group, proper mass media campaigns, there should be a
comprehensive ban on all tobacco advertising to reduce the number of tobacco
smoking.
