Investment Officer, West Africa

E+Carbon is a social enterprise founded in 2007 by E+Co to leverage carbon finance for the purpose of reducing poverty, mitigating environmental degradation, and maximizing financial returns.
E+Carbon commercializes carbon assets arising from cost-effective, life-altering end user technologies that abate large quantities of greenhouse gas emissions. E+Carbon’s primary focus is on efficient biomass cook stove projects, which offer the added benefit of significantly improving public health and mitigating deforestation.
The Investment Officer will also assess the growth potential of existing investments. Initial countries include Togo, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali and Ghana. This will include ensuring compliance with investment guidelines, overall risk and diversification management and realizing the return objectives.
Specific duties include:
1. Identifying, analyzing, negotiating and structuring investments;
2. Providing direction and support to pipeline and portfolio investments
3. Providing business development support such as establishing appropriate
management systems.
4. Ensuring appropriate data tracking and data reporting system is established and maintained among all investee companies
5. In consultation with the Project Manager, implementing carbon finance stakeholder consultations and facilitating carbon finance audits as needed
6. Representing E+Carbon at meetings and conferences and with local authorities
Required Skills or Experience
• More than 3 years experience in finance (front office, investing) or strategic consulting (client facing).
• Knowledge of carbon finance mechanisms a plus (Voluntary market; CDM market)
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Superior command over Microsoft office software (especially excel) and Quickbooks
• Experience working with small businesses in emerging markets a plus
