The Opportunity

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), the leader in wetland conservation, is
looking for a confident, energetic and dedicated Manager of Provincial
Operations (MPO) to lead our Manitoba conservation team of 16 staff.

Located in Brandon and reporting to the Director of Regional
Operations, the MPO manages business and operational planning; pursuit
of provincial wetland policy, c

onservation, communications and
education programs including the Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre
(11 staff); revenue generation, budget control of over $6M program in
Manitoba, human resource management and the development and
cultivation of key relationships.

The MPO leads the provincial operations team while building and
fostering relationships within DUC and with key agencies and
individuals in the public and private sectors. Working closely with
the managers of the development and event programs, the MPO will help
reach our major gift and event
fundraising goals.

You have a high degree of emotional intelligence, strong communication
skills and a desire to continuously improve operations: you enjoy
thinking outside of the box. You are a true leader with visionary
qualities who consistently delivers quality results in a complex,
changing environment.
Goal-oriented and self-motivated, you are able to see the bigger
picture: how all business lines come together and how DUC’s mission is
linked to society.

Requirements:
• An undergraduate degree with a strong conservation focus and a
background in science, agriculture, natural resources or government
relations.
• Experience supervising a team of multi-disciplinary professionals.
• Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing budgets.
• Familiarity with the non-profit or environmental conservation
sectors are definite assets.

Your minimum eight years experience in conservation program delivery,
revenue generation and working with partners along with a demonstrated
ability to manage and motivate staff make you the ideal candidate for
this position.
