Director of
Programmes – Management International, Area 47, Sector 5 – Lilongwe
Reporting to the
Executive Director, the incumbent will coordinate and supervise the programme
operations of the Secretariat and provide technical and policy guidance to
agencies implementing the National HIV/AIDS response,
Coordinate and
provide technical support to institutions implementing HIV/AIDS prevention
activities, Ensure that the necessary capacity is built to impellent the
national policy, including implementati
on of the national HIV and AIDS
communications, advocacy activities and initiatives, Provide support to key
sectors with advice and support on policy and programming, Ensure that all
HIV/AIDS programmes reach all regions in Malawi and the HIV/AIDS policy is
consistently implemented, Coordinate and provide technical support to
institutions providing care and social support to People Living with HIV
(PLHIV), Represent the National AIDS Commission at high level meetings and for
a, and Over see crosscutting national activities/approaches and issues such as
Gender and Human Rights
A verifiable
results-oriented track record, be a self starter and an effective team player,
Have drive, excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal/social skills,
Excellent oral and written communication skills, Able to motivate and lead a
multi disciplinary team, Planning and project management skills, Good grasp of
the causes and impact of HIV/AIDS, current issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS in
general in Malawi and the world, Clear understanding of the socio-economic
fabric of the country, Extensive experience in general management and working
with cooperating partners, public sector, NGOs and the private sector, a
Masters degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or Mass Communication, with
at least 8 yrs post graduate experience
