Kennel Attendant
An exciting opportunity exists to join a small
family run boutique greyhound rearing and training facility to work in the
rearing, training and racing of greyhounds in the Pearcedale area.
The successful applicant must have a true love for
working with dogs and an ability to work unsupervised.

riety of duties which
include
– Perform general kennel duties and tasks.
– Competently handle dogs of various ages and levels of training.
– Clean and maintain all kennel areas and associated equipment.
– Coordinate and supervise the exercising of the dogs on a daily basis.
– Prepare daily meals.
– Taking the dogs to the vet for regular check ups.
– Helping with the whelping of new litters of pups
– Provide daily handling of pups in the rearing yards.
– Taking of dogs to the track to trial and race including at night time.
– Perform all basic husbandry requirements including bathing, grooming, health
checking, weighing, feeding and toileting.
– Maintaining the surface of the exercise areas in safe condition at all times.
– Helping with general kennel and property maintenance.

The successful applicant needs to be able to be
flexible in their ability to work varying hours and be available to work
different shifts including weekends and nights depending on the requirements
and needs of the kennel for the forthcoming week.
The role is a permanent part time position based on
a starting minimum 20 hour week but due to the varying needs of the kennel the
hours could range from the permanent 20 hours up to 40 hours per week and will
be broken up as follows
– Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm (20 hours to be worked
on the property).
– Varied extra hours Monday to Saturday (20 hours on and off the property going
to Vet’s and race tracks )
A weekly roster of hours to be worked will be
provided.
The successful applicant does not require greyhound
experience but must have experience and a love in working with dogs and be able
to provide a safe and happy environment for them.
The role would also suit a semi retired couple who
could carry out the duties including going to the track together.
Training and help with obtaining relevant
certification will be provided for the successful applicant.
The successful applicant must have a drivers
licence.
A good renumeration package including super and
annual leave will be paid to the right applicant.
