centralization. While doing so,
LGAP will directly assist USAID Malawi operationalize its integration approach.
The chief of party will be based in Malawi.

The
COP is the leader of the project team and will be responsible for overall
implementation, results, and management. S/he is the team’s interlocutor with
USAID and is responsible for establishing and maintaining constructive
relations with local government counterparts across the different regions of
Malawi. The COP is the final implementing team authority on management issues,
including staff, logistics, financial accounting, and reporting.

Required
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Master’s
Degree in social sciences, international development, economics or other relevant
field; - At
least fifteen (15) years of experience as in progressively more senior
roles in the implementation and management of international development
projects. - Demonstrated
experience in local government strengthening and/or decentralization policy. - Demonstrated
capacity to build productive working relationships with a wide network of
partners and stakeholders. - Knowledge
of USAID regulations and procedures pertaining to activity design and
implementation. - Excellent
oral and written English language communication skills. - Prior
experience in implementing local government programs in Africa, preferably
in anglophone countries.
