The research work was based on the
assessment of noise pollution and health implication in Otor-Iwhrekor. Otor-Iwhrekor
is located at Ughelli town in Ughelli North Local Government Area and it has
different sawmill and factories. Ughelli town has a population of 81,944
persons (Census, 2006) while Otor-Iwhrekor community is estimated to have a
population of about 2,000 persons.

The people of Ughelli are mainly the Urhobos but due to trade activities other
tribes like Igbo, Izon, Isoko, Ika, Yoruba, Itsekiri, Ukwuani, the Edo as well
as Hausa are found there Ughelli is predominately Christian as is most of
Southern Nigeria.
