The area of the study was Ughelli Metropolis in
Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. Ughelli metropolis is
mainly inhabited by the Urhobos People. But being an urban area, there are some
other non-Urhobos inhabiting the metropolis which include the Isokos, Ibos, Hausa,
Ijaws, Yorubas, etc. Their major language spoken in the area is Pidgin English
but the indigenous language is Urhobo language. The main occupation of the
inhabitants of the study area is trading and farming. Ughelli metropolis is
bounded in the north by Agbarho, in the south by Ogor, in the west by
Ephron-Otor and in the east by Agbarha-Otor.
