Summary
Chief Design Draughtsman is required to oversee Jwaneng PMO design office i.e.
to manage, coordinate and control the functions of the Design office in the
preparation of designs and production of mechanical, structural, civil,
electrical and architectural drawings.

Requirements
- Diploma
in Design and Draughting Technology or equivalent - 15
years post qualification experience in a mining drawing office
environment, 7 of which should be as a Senior Design Draughtsman or
drawing office supervisor, 2 of which should be managing consultants
design teams. - 10
years using Computer Aided Design (CAD) preferably AutoCAD (Microstation
will be an added advantage) - Proficiency
in Blue Cielo Auto Manager Teamwork data management software or similar. - Proficiency
in Prokon Structural design software or similar will be an added
advantage.

Activities
To manage coordinate and control the functions of the Design office in the
operation of design and production of mechanical, structural, civil, electrical
and architectural drawings in a mining environment.
1. Cost control
1.1. Prepare and coordinate the sections budget and forecast
1.2. Manage design consultants time and costs
2. Planning and Design Office management
2.1. Investigate project requirements with stakeholders and suggest various
solutions
2.2. Develops, reviews and schedule project designs by monitoring and
controlling design hours
2.3. Set performance standards and ensure designs are to industry standards and
legal requirements; architectural, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical
2.4. Develop and implement Drawing Office manual
2.5. Continually reviewing Design Offi ce procedures for improved effectiveness
2.6. Interprets project designs to stakeholders and gather feedback
2.7. Evaluate impact of scope changes with stakeholders
2.8. Ensure as built designs are up-to-date and properly archived for future
reference and/or use
2.9. Manage various design discipline interfaces, KPIs and SLAs
3. Subordinate and design consultants management
3.1. Manages effectiveness areas of subordinates and review targets
3.2. Develop staff and retaining
3.3. Manage consultants and KPIs, SLAs etc
4. Database and filing system
4.1. Manage maintenance of database and fi lling system to ensure information
and design availability
5. SHE
5.1. Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations to minimise the
likelihood of accidents
