COVID-19: Rwanda receives WTTC “safe travels” stamp

The famous holiday hotspots of Indonesia, Dubai and Rwanda are among the most recent destinations to start using the global safety and hygiene stamp created by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The growing list of endorsements has come from many major holiday destinations and city destinations around the world, such as Sharjah, U.A.E. and Malaga, which join the growing list of Spanish summer sun destinations, including Alicante and Benidorm.

In addition, Costa Rica, Tobago and Tanzania have signed up to receive the safety stamp.

WTTC has developed a “Safe Travel” stamp to allow travelers to recognise destinations and businesses around the world that have implemented internationally standardized health and hygiene protocols. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has sponsored the WTTC ‘Safe Travels’ stamp.

Since the introduction of the WTTC “Safe Travels” stamp, countries , cities and other destinations around the world have now implemented new WTTC protocols. As part of the guidelines, these global steps offer continuity and guidance to travel providers and travelers on a new approach to safety, sanitation, deep cleaning and physical distance in the “new normal” of the COVID-19 world.

The guidelines were built on the basis of the experience of WTTC members working with COVID-19 and based on recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC).
