COVID-19 Restrictions: Rwanda makes list of countries allowed to travel to Greece

Greece prohibited flights to and from Turkey, Albania and North Macedonia until 31 July as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), as announced by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority through the Aviation Directive (NOTAM).

The ban on entry for non-EU citizens has also been extended until 31 July, according to the NOTAM issued by the Greek Civil Aviation Authority ( CAA), SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Flights to and from Turkey will be forbidden before midnight on Friday (31 July). All flights from Albania and North Macedonia are only allowed to land at the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport of Athens due to a decision by Greece to ban them from all other airports in Greece until 31 July.

Exempt from the existing ban are sanitary flights, cargo flights, humanitarian flights, aircraft return flights with crew only (ferry flights), emergency flights, state flights, military flights (except to and from Turkey), Frontex flights, technical landings (flights that have mechanical damage without the need to disembark passengers).

Flights to and from Sweden were banned until Sunday, July 19, according to the NOTAM.

Greece adopted the advice of the European Union and exempted the following 12 countries from travel ban on the basis of their epidemiological situation: Algeria, Australia , Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea , Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay.

Serbia and Montenegro are no longer part of the EU safe list due to an rise in the number of COVID-19 infections in both countries.

“All passengers arriving in Greece must fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival, providing information that will include their departure airport, the address where they will be staying and the expected duration of their stay in Greece, among others,” the NOTAM reads.

Earlier this month, following the EU-wide travel ban on third-country nationals, Greece also applied for entry in the Hellenic Republic for residents of these 14 countries.
