Climate Change Adaptation Specialist Job Vacancy in Canada

The Ontario Centre for Climate Impacts and Adaptation Resources (OCCIAR), at MIRARCO, is a university-based, resource hub for researchers and stakeholders searching for information on climate change impacts and adaptation. The centre will communicate the latest research on climate change impacts and adaptation; liaise with partners across Canada to encourage and support adaptation to climate change and develop tools to assist with municipal and sectoral adaptation.

Job Description:
This person will be responsible for supporting the efforts of the Ontario Centre for Climate Impacts and Adaptation Centre including:
• Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders in Ontario;
• Provide assistance, as required, in the management and coordination by providing input and direction to ongoing Centre projects;
• Contribute to the development of new climate change initiatives and projects;
• Encourage and develop collaborative relationships with other stakeholders in Ontario and Nationally;
• Assistance in completion of projects for delivery of quality reports and/or publications, on time, with the resources of the Centre;
• Conduct article and report searches to maintain high levels of knowledge on provincial, national and global issues pertaining to climate change adaptation;
• Assist in the preparation of new resource material to aid in community adaptation for communities in Ontario;

Minimum Requirements:
• Post-graduate degree in a climate change adaptation related field (geography, earth sciences, climatology, other) and have 3+ years work experience in the field of climate change impacts and adaptation;
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
• Proven time-management, organization/prioritization skills to meet deadlines;
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
• Ability to travel;
• Motivated, excellent interpersonal relations and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Fluent in English and French — verbal, reading, writing.
