Chemonics Maternal and Child Health Advisor – East Africa Rwanda Family Health Project Job Vacancy in Rwanda

Chemonics seeks a long-term maternal and child
health (MCH) advisor for the USAID-funded Rwanda Family Health Project (RFHP).
This five-year program aims to increase the use of district-level facilities
and community-based family health services.
The project works in an integrated set of service
areas including family planning and reproductive health; HIV/AIDS; maternal,
neonatal, and child health; malaria prevention and treatment; nutrition; safe
water and hygiene; and tuberculosis. We are looking for individuals who have a
passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide strategic technical leadership and
    expertise to RFHP technical staff, districts, and sites on the
    implementation of high quality MCH services at the facility and community
    levels
  • Build on existing tools and develop or adapt
    approaches to ensure the efficiency, acceptability, and impact of MCH
    services at the facility, community, and patient levels
  • Provide expert medical and clinical input in
    MCH to all project activities and for designing strategies to support
    service providers to improve access to and quality of MCH services
  • Review, develop, and prepare project training
    and communications activities in maternal and child health
  • Provide technical assistance to district
    health units
  • Represent the program at the Ministry of
    Health and hold other technical meetings related maternal and child health
  • Participate in program operations research and
    monitoring and evaluation activities, seeking and using available data to
    inform strategic and implementation decisions
  • Assist in identifying short-term technical
    assistance needs to support project activities and help identify local and
    international consultants as necessary
Position Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in health sciences (medicine,
    midwifery, nursing, physician’s assistant, etc.), public health, or
    related field required
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience in
    MCH, integrated management of childhood illnesses (IMCI), and nutrition
    programs
  • Experience in capacity building and in working
    effectively with USAID, government counterparts at all levels, NGO
    partners, local organizations, and other program partners
  • Experience providing assistance to ministries
    of health on issues related to maternal and child health
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
    environment with program and technical staff
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and
    integrity
  • Fluent English required; proficient French
    preferred
