Chemonics
seeks a long-term maternal and child health advisor for the USAID Rwanda Family
Health Project (RFHP) . This five-year program, currently in its second year,
aims to increase the use of district-level facility and community-based family
health services. The project works in an integrated set of service areas
including family planning and reproductive health; HIV/AIDS; maternal,
neonatal, and child health; malaria prevention and treatment; nutrition; safe
water and hygiene; and tuberculosis. We are looking for individuals who have a
passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities
include:
  • Provide strategic technical leadership and
    expertise to RFHP technical staff, districts, and sites on the
    implementation of high quality maternal child health (MCH) services at the
    facility and community level
  • Build on existing tools and develop or adapt
    approaches to ensure the efficiency, acceptability, and impact of MCH
    services at the facility, community, and patient level
  • Provide clinical and technical input in MCH to
    all program and district health units
  • Provide technical support in designing
    strategies to support service providers in improving access to, and
    quality of, MCH services
  • Review, develop, and prepare project training
    and communications activities in maternal and child health
  • Represent the project at the Ministry of
    Health and in technical meetings related to maternal and child health
  • Participate in project operations research and
    monitoring and evaluation activities, and collect and use available data
    to inform strategic and implementation decisions
  • Assist in identifying short-term technical
    assistance needs to support project activities and help to identify local
    and international consultants as necessary
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in health sciences (medicine,
    midwifery, nursing, physician’s assistant, etc.), public health, or
    related field required
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience in
    MCH, integrated management of childhood illnesses (IMCI), and nutrition
    programs, preferably in international settings
  • Experience in capacity building and working
    effectively with USAID, government counterparts at all levels, NGO
    partners, local organizations, and other program partners
  • Experience providing assistance to ministries
    of health on MCH issues
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team
    environment
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluent English required; proficient French
    preferred
