Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services (AASAS) is a provincial umbrella
organization that provides leadership, coordination and a unified voice on
issues of sexual assault and sexual abuse while increasing recognition, support
for and access to sexual assault and sexual abuse services in Alberta.
AASAS is currently
looking for a passionate and results-oriented individual to fill the position
of Collaborative Community Response Coordinator. This is a two year contract
position. The successful candidate will report to and work closely with the
AASAS Chief Executive Officer to develop and establish coordinated sexual
assault crisis response teams in up to 5 selected
rural and remote communities
of Alberta. This position is most suited for an individual who is highly
motivated with expertise in community development, public health and
collaborative coordinated community responses. This position will be based in
Calgary with travel throughout the province of Alberta. Applicants must have a
valid driver’s license.
The preferred
candidate will:
- Work
collaboratively with groups and communities inclusive of a diverse range
of stakeholders to standardize a coordinated sexual assault crisis
response in up to 5 selected rural and remote communities of Alberta; - Establish
and maintain effective partnerships and collaborations with key
professionals and community stakeholders in each community; - Work
with the project evaluator to conduct community needs assessments, focus
groups and needs surveys in participating communities; - Seek
out and share best practice tools/terms of reference; - Work
with community stakeholder committees to assist them to develop and
implement community specific implementation plans and strategies; - Coordinate
and assist with the delivery of training in participating communities; and
- Work
with the project evaluator to oversee and coordinate outcomes evaluation
and knowledge dissemination.
The preferred
candidate requires:
- Minimum
undergraduate degree in human/social services or nursing; - An
in-depth understanding of anti-oppression theory and a demonstrated
commitment to human rights through social change; - Knowledge
and understanding of sexual assault and sexual abuse and its impact on
individuals, families and communities; - An
in-depth understanding of the multi-disciplinary coordinated sexual
assault crisis response model; and - Exceptional
oral and written communication skills, organizational and time management
skills.
