Cawthron is NZ’s provider of
hatchery produced pacific oyster spat. We need a fulltime permanent technician
to complement our existing team to support oyster production activities at the
Cawthron Aquaculture Park in Nelson. A diploma, BSc or similar is required.

Previous experience working
in a shellfish hatchery/nursery is required. Laboratory and/or marine
microalgae experience is preferred.

Candidates require good
practical skills, be great working in teams, the ability to perform manual work
and have flexibility to meet the seasonal demands of the role, including some
weekend work. Tasks will include hatchery production of spat, brood stock
conditioning and husbandry as well as providing technical assistance for
R&D projects.
