Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Under the direction of the Executive Director, oversees all aspects
of Camp Kawartha’s property, including both our main site and
Environment Centre. Responsible for: general maintenance, landscaping,
vehicles, licensing, buildings, mechanical and electrical systems,
roadways, trails, camp equipment and supplies
• Responsible for managing, adhering to and reporting on, an annual
site budget. Ensures that all property related expenses are within
budgetary parameters. Monitors applicable budgets and payroll records
and reviews financial transactions in order to ensure expenditures are
authorized and budgeted. Provides input into capital and operating
budget for assigned area.
• Direct supervisor of the maintenance team. Works productively with
other department heads.
• Ensures the camp’s infrastructure is in good, safe operational repair
• Oversees new construction projects
• Ensures that the camp’s ethic of conservation and best environmental
practices are adhered to.
• Is responsible for adhering to all Health and Safety Standards for
the safe handling of materials and equipment. Ensures the camp meets
or exceeds all Ministry site related regulations and all OCA protocols
regarding maintenance of the facilities.
• Ensures that the Camp is operating at or above Ontario Camping
Association site related standards
• Works under the Executive Director with input from the Property
Committee to develop and implement long range site plans
• Works with the Office in all maintenance related issues involving
school, group and camp bookings.
• Is proactive in anticipating and solving site related problems

Qualifications:

Experience
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience and/or formal training in property
maintenance
• Ability to provide leadership and direction in a positive manner
• Ability to manage an operating and capital budget
• Ability to monitor, maintain and make minor repairs to equipment and services
• Knowledge of industry standards in maintenance procedures
• Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self direction
• Understands occupational health and safety requirements and procedures

Credentials
• Must have clear Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check to work near children
• Standard First Aid & CPR
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
• Posses a valid certificate as an operator of Ontario Small Water
Drinking Systems
• Must possess a Valid Ontario Drivers License.
