Job Description
CA Global: Power and Energy (Africa Positions) has a client that is in need of a Plant General Manager (Operations & Maintenance) the position is based in Ghana.
REQUIREMENTS
• Engineering Degree in (Electrical / Mechanical Engineering)
• Successful completion of leadership / managerial courses
• Power Plant Operations Certificates or equivalent to or MBA
• minimum 7 years experience in a power generation plant
• Previous experience of having worked directly with senior management in the Power Generation business
• Up to date knowledge of Ghanaian Power Regulations, polices, norms etc.
• Firsthand knowledge and experience of the Ghana Power industry
• IT literate: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Prior supervisory, management, and/or leadership experience
• Experience in Operation and Maintenance of Large power generation units.
• Knowledge about upstream & mid stream business
• Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize activities
• Effective leadership skills with the ability to engage a dynamic team and manage workload ensuring service delivery to business
• Effective communication & analytical skills with ability to influence at all levels across the organisation
• Ability to win and build credibility.
• Proven internal consultancy skills and experience
• Effective planning and organisational skills
• High level of commercial awareness and numerical ability
• Experience of managing change.
• Ability to be proactive, pragmatic and deliver results
• Evidence of creative thinking with the ability to introduce new concepts and ideas
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
• Responsible for day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives
• Oversee (staff of more than 65 full-time and contracted Ghanaian nationals in the operation and maintenance of the plant
• Evaluate and advise the Owner’s Board of Directors of the short-and long-term benefits of implementation of a Long Term Maintenance Agreement with the generation unit manufacturer to lock-in crucial cost-savings.
• Attend Board meetings and negotiate for capital purchase materials.
• Manage the gas conversion project for two combustible Plants.
• Manage the company-approved Community Social Responsibility Projects.
• Responsible for establishing and updating OSHA Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) regulations.
• Responsible for targeting owner cost savings and increased owner revenues.
• Set goals and objectives for site performance improvement initiatives in conjunctions with owner.
• Provide information to support the negotiation with Government of Ghana to complete the expansion project and the revise Power Purchase Agreement
• Oversee and guide functional Managers of Safety & Environment, operations and maintenance departments, Purchase, Finance and Administrative departments at site to develop annual budget, technical procedures and strategies, etc to ensure optimum performance of the plant and to achieve monthly / annual targets.
