The Burrard Inlet Environmental Action Program (BIEAP) and Fraser River Estuary
Management Program (FREMP) are intergovernmental partnership programs that
coordinate the environmental management of Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River
estuary. BIEAP and FREMP are seeking a Project Review Coordinator for 54
consecutive weeks starting February 6, 2012. This diverse position has two main
functions:
1. Coordinate the Project Review Process (see http://www.bieapfremp.org/fremp/projectreview/index.html
for details);
2. Support the Program Manager and Policy Coordinator as needed
The successful candidate will be a dynamic, open-minded and creative individual
with effective interpersonal abilities, a positive attitude and a
“can-do” spirit. The individual must be well organized and possess
strong problem solving skills. They must be detail-oriented with the ability to
prioritize and self-direct a daily workload. Exceptional written and verbal
communication skills are an essential component of the job. The successful
candidate must be a team player and willing to take on extra tasks as
necessary.
Qualifications
• Minimum three years working in a professional setting
• A University Degree in environmental science or related discipline is
required
• Knowledge and expertise in water quality issues is an asset
• Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential
• Basic website maintenance skills are an asset
Responsibilities
Coordinated Project Review Process
• Provide advice to proponents concerning the application process
• Schedule and facilitate meetings; prepare agendas and minutes
• Screen applications and prepare responses
• Provide technical responses on standard referrals
• Track progress on reviews; Maintain project review files
Support for the Program Manager and Policy Coordinator
• Schedule and prepare for meetings and assist in minute taking where necessary
• Assist with reports, proposals, correspondence, mail outs and event
coordination
• Proofread documents written by other staff members as needed
• A variety of diverse tasks will be delegated as required
Office Duties
• Assist in answering telephones, incoming/outgoing mail, photocopying
• Maintain shared filing system, databases, records, library and mailing lists
• Coordinate office equipment repair, computer and office maintenance
The Project Review Coordinator must provide friendly, courteous and helpful
responses to proponents concerning the project review application process and
public inquiries. They may also be responsible for representing the
organization at events, and therefore must enjoy interacting with the public.
