BlackBerry has vowed to reach carbon neutrality in six months, with an increase in Canadian wastewater treatment technologies to support its sustainability policy.
By 2021 the company committed to phasing out single-use plastics and investing in innovative clean water technology that focuses on keeping water clean from raw waste in canals , rivers and the sea.
Further funding will also support the water infrastructure in Rwanda.
Such measures form part of the phone giant ‘s contribution to Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).
Neelam Sandhu, vice president of business operations and strategic accounts at BlackBerry’s CEO ‘s office said: “We are pleased to expand our commitment to the UNGC SDGs, by investing in initiatives that enable access to clean water and the opportunities and benefits that are tied to that, for Canadian citizens and the global community we are all a part of.”
