The Role
We are a busy and dynamic firm and currently seeking a full-time criminal
lawyer with a minimum of 2 years experience in criminal law.
Working
closely with the Partner and Associate, this is an excellent opportunity for an
experienced junior criminal lawyer. You would be acting for a range of
defendants and have independent carriage of a large number of criminal
matters.

Your
main responsibilities include:

- Attending
court frequently; - Preparing
representations and negotiating with DPP and the Australian Federal
Police; - Attending
client conferences and obtaining instructions; - Preparing
correspondence including written advice and briefs to counsel; and - Working
with some of Australia’s best criminal barristers.
Your Experience
You MUST have at least 2 years’ PAE in criminal law and defending
clients in criminal court proceedings. In addition, having experience in
advocacy in a range of cases, from bail applications, defendant hearings and
sentences.
Your
strengths will include outstanding written and analytical skills, excellent
attention to detail, critical and creative thinking and excellent interpersonal
communication skills to foster client relationships. A sense of humour is
a “must”. You also must be able to work well under pressure and
be robust enough to take straight talking.
