Legal Liaison Officer
Job Purpose


The primary focus of the role is to maximise the recovery rates within the
charge off portfolio, the incumbent role must instruct attorneys to enforce
legal steps against the customers in order to realise outstanding debts or
assets within the portfolio to support the attorneys by providing them with all
required documentation to proceed with the legal steps within the agreed
timelines.

Requirements
Main
Accountabilities :
  • To
    identify all matters that are fit for litigation timeously, in line with
    the legal strategy and instruct attorneys to initiate legal action.
  • To
    prepare and submit all required litigation documentation to attorneys to
    enforce legal steps.
  • To
    monitor progress of these matters with attorneys to ensure that the
    business is kept abreast with the developments.
  • To
    negotiate settlements on accounts and maximise recovery on delinquent
    accounts prior to instructing the attorneys for litigation.
  • Deliver
    acceptable blended recovery rates in line with the collections and
    recovery strategy.
  • To
    ensure that litigation instructions are only pursued on matters where it’s
    financially viable to do so.
  • To
    cancel accounts timeously where agreed and ensure settlements are received
    to safeguard against potential reputational challenges.
  • Report
    all risk and loss events as a result of fraud or error. Report this to the
    risk manager and/or relevant parties to mitigate possible losses which may
    be incurred.

Experience
and Qualification:
  • Diploma
    in Law
  • Two
    (2) years’ experience within the legal collections environment
  • Proficient
    in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and Internet)
