Jonathan Barnett, representing Gareth Bale as his agent, labeled Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid coach, ‘a disgrace’.
Barnett is livid that Zidane acts unprofessional in relation to his client’s future that looks destined for this summer’s departure from Santiago Bernabeau.
Zidane revealed that Bale is “very close to leaving” the club after leaving him out in a clash with Bayern Munich on Saturday from the squad for the International Champions Cup.
“Bale did not play because he is very close to leaving,” Zidane said.
“We hope he leaves soon, it would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team.”
Barnett took exception to the frank evaluation of the scenario by the Real Madrid coach.
“Zidane is a disgrace to speak like that about someone who has done so much for Real,” Barnett told ESPN FC.
“If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing.”
With his willingness to ship Bale from Real Madrid, Zidane was very open.
This is irrespective of the contributions of the Welshman to the unprecedented era of European achievement in Madrid.
Bale scored crucial goals in two Champions League finals, among other remarkable feats, as Madrid won four out of five tournaments between 2014 and 2018, as well as a wonderful victory in the 2014 Copa del Rey final – the last time Madrid won that competition.
The final of the 2018 Champions League brought his latest piece of silverware to Zidane, as Bale doubled down Liverpool in the second half.
The forward’s motorcycle kick from Marcelo’s cross certainly became one of the iconic goals of the tournament, with many comparing it to Zidane’s own volleyed attempt in the 2002 final against Bayer Leverkusen.
The heroics of Bale are now history as Real Madrid looks to take them to the next level with their new arrivals Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo Goes.
Nothing suggests that their transfer business is concluded by Real Madrid as there are speculations that they are still looking at the likes of Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen to further strengthen their squad.
