Role
& Responsibilities
The
IT Assistant will work very closely with the IT Director in tracking all
ongoing IT work streams, ensuring steady progress is being made, and that all
tasks proceed to schedule. This position requires working closely with London
based IT teams to help scope requirements, prioritize resources, and keep open
dialogue to help the Rwandan commercial and operations teams deliver alongside
our technology developments. There are also external technology partners and
consultants, whom the IT Director will need assistance in managing.
The
successful IT assistant will be someone who has experience working with
databases and coding, but who mostly has an aptitude for technology, excellent
communication and strong time management. This person should be ready to help
manage projects from day 1 and be ready to learn from the IT Director about the
many tasks associated with managing a digital health company’s IT needs. It is
a high growth position and will be very critical to the success of major
projects in the coming years.
The
specific tasks will include, but not be limited to:
  • Assist
    IT Director with all tasks related to company development and IT
    operations, including third party integrations, external partners and
    consultant work;
  • Help
    to assess and fix reported technical issues by clients and maintain an
    updated issue log; 
  • Help
    to monitor communications with Babylon headquarter tech teams;
  • Keep
    the IT timelines up-to-date in the company GANTT chart, helping to keep
    other departments informed of delays and new deliverable dates
  • Manage
    and maintain the inventory of all company devices;
  • Keep
    all company devices (laptops, tablets) up-to-date and working efficiently
    for the needs of babyl;
  • Prepare
    IT equipment prior to their first use and deployment;
  • Maintain
    the office network, monitor babyl’s systems performance and coordinate
    with 3rd party service providers for any technical matter related to
    babyl’s systems/infrastructure
  • Other
    IT tasks as necessary;
Qualifications
  • Professional
    & Academic
  • Minimum
    of 2 years’ experience
  • Degree
    in Computer science, information technology or related field
  • IT
    Support/Networking
  • Experience
    in help desk environment or IT support
  • Skills
    to recognize computer interface problems (hardware and software),
    troubleshoot the source and repair as necessary.
  • Experience
    with Windows/MAC OS operating systems
  • Professional
    certifications (A+, N+…) would be an added advantage or having an
  • Basic
    to Medium IT networking skills (LAN/WLAN setup, VoIP, etc… ) and
    troubleshooting peripherals and mobile devices
  • Data
    and Analysis
  • Experience
    in database management. . Ability to run basic SQL queries.
  • Basic
    understanding of the software development cycle
  • Basic
    understanding of the Object Oriented Programing (OOP)
  • Ability
    to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner
Others
  • Ability
    to implement quick solutions for improving business processes
  • Proven
    excellent communication skills;
  • Basic
    knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Fluency with
    new emerging technologies;
  • Excellent
    time management;
