development consulting services in support of financial services and enterprise
development.  Since 2007, AZMJ has completed numerous initiatives,
specializing in rural and agricultural finance and impact investment. In
particular, AZMJ acts as a bridge builder between the public and private
sector; finance and funding needs; technology and the user; and funds and markets.
AZMJ is organizer of the Cracking the Nut learning events and co-organized the
2014 Cracking the Nut Africa conference held in Kigali, Rwanda which focused on
improving rural livelihoods and food security.


ABOUT THE JOB


AZMJ is seeking an Investment Specialist for the anticipated five year
USAID-funded Private-Sector Driven Agricultural Growth (PSD-AG) program under
the Feed the Future Initiative. The program aims to increase smallholder
incomes and improve nutrition by promoting private sector investments, both
internationally and domestically, and connecting smallholders to markets in
order to transform the Rwandan agricultural sector. The project will work with
the Government of Rwanda to increase private sector investment and facilitate
increased private sector investment in upgrading agricultural value chains
while creating market opportunities to increase smallholder income.

LOCATION
The position will be located in Kigali, Rwanda.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify
    and make contact with key informants and key stakeholders in various value
    chains
  • Identify
    opportunities for finance and investment in identified value chains
  • Work to
    develop a pipeline of project related investment opportunities
  • Provide
    due diligence to facilitate investment
  • Develop
    relationships with local and international financial institutions and
    investors
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s
    degree and at least 5 years of experience in economic growth/trade, rural
    finance, or investment promotion.
  • Experience
    in evaluating agricultural value chains and investment opportunities
  • Experience
    in programs aimed at increasing access to finance and investment for
    agricultural value chains.
  • Demonstrated
    creativity, willingness to innovate, think systemically and design
    catalytic activities
  • Experience
    working on USAID-funded programs in East or Central Africa
  • This
    position requires spoken and written fluency in English and Kinyarwanda.
