The Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors
(AIPC) is a private provider of Higher Education programs in counselling and
psychology. As a specialist provider, AIPC offers comprehensive and innovative
higher education programs providing a unique and personalised learning
experience to tertiary students.
In 2012, the Institute commenced offering a Bachelor of Psychological Science
under the brand Australian Institute of Psychology (AIP).
The Institute is seeking a Lecturer (Level A) to
teach and assess subjects included in the Bachelor of Psychological
Science and Bachelor of Counselling. Based at the Institute’s Higher Education
campus

in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, the position will also work closely with
the Head of School, Course Coordinator and Academic Team in the
delivery of the courses.

This position is for ten (10) hours per week. The main duties and
responsibilities of the role include:

* Teaching responsibilities including developing and delivering lectures,
tutorials and residential school sessions; providing study assistance to
students; and marking student assessments.
* Contributing to subject evaluation and review processes, implementing subject
improvements and assisting with pre-assessment and post-assessment moderation.
* Independently conducting and performing research and publishing findings.
* Peer reviewing research findings of other academic staff members as required.
* Contributing to the Psychology Academic Team through supervision, training,
guidance and peer review of new Lecturers and associate level academic staff as
required.
* Maintaining paperwork and files as required for teaching, assessment,
tutoring and research responsibilities.
* Providing recommendations in the purchase of library and information
resources, psychology tests and apparatus for use by staff and students.
* Ensuring all student assessments are marked to appropriate standards within
timeframes.
* Undertaking appropriate professional development.
* Maintaining membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Australian
Psychological Society (APS).

To perform effectively in the role, the successful Lecturer will have:

• A recognised qualification at least at Masters level in Psychology.
• Demonstrated teaching ability in relevant fields in the higher education
sector.
• Demonstrated work with clients in psychological roles and/or counselling
settings.
• Current membership (or eligibility) with APS.
• Registered as a Psychologist (preferable).
