Alleged N2.2bn fraud: Court adjourns Ayo Fayose’s trial

The trial of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has been adjourned by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos until October 20 this year.

The former governor was present in court on Monday July 6 but the case was adjourned after Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, told the presiding judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, that the witness to the prosecution who was to testify was not available. Jacobs informed the court that the witness had informed him that “one of his family members was being quarantined in the Isolation centre.”

He then asked the court for an adjournment that was not objected by the former governor ‘s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo.

The judge then adjourned the case for a continuation of the court until October 20.

Fayose is reportedly under trial for alleged misappropriation of N2. 2 Billion of state funds when he served as state governor.
