This job is suited to an individual who can work independently, has a
good work ethic, likes people, and loves nature. As you will be on
your own for some periods of time and then nearly over run with a
chaotic schedule of arriving/departing guests you must be very
adaptable and calm minded. This position is a unique opportunity to
work in the Canadian wilderness.

You will be responsible for the day to da

y running of the Eco-Lodge.
You will have to deal with guests, prepare meals, and the general
smooth operation of the business.

Please note that you will be living in a remote location with no
phone, cell service, TV, or internet access. You are 300 km from
Toronto or Ottawa, and the nearest town is a 45 minute drive away.

Duties:
• Meet and greet guests.
• Help staff where required.
• Ensure rooms are prepared for guest arrival.
• Collecting money from guests, keeping receipts and petty cash organized.
• Prepare and serve meals.
• Help with grooming trails using a chainsaw and a brushsaw.
• Ensure that the lodge is clean.
• Dealing with tourists questions about the area, wildlife, etc.
• Organizing the bonfire at night, and teaching guests about the local
wolf pack and other flora and fauna.
• Liaise with owner on a daily schedule,.
• When the Lodge is not busy it is expected that you will use your
initiative to do other jobs that constantly need doing, like painting,
stacking firewood, trail grooming, etc.
• Maintain hot tub equipment.

Qualifications:

These are the ideal qualities we are looking for, but if you can meet
most of them we can provide some “on the job” training for anything
you don’t have.
• You must be friendly and “in a good mood” all the time.
• Previous wilderness accommodation/camp management experience. Three
years minimum.
• Basic First Aid & CPR.
• You must be highly adaptable and be able to “think on your feet”.
• You must have a valid drivers license and have your own vehicle.
• Knowledge of plants and animals in Algonquin Park, and ability to
instruct tourists about same flora and fauna.
• College or university degree with some business training.

Pay:

The pay is $600/week. This job includes your meals and accommodations
at the lodge.

A schedule will be worked out so that you get a day off every week
during the summer, and depending on our schedules you may be able to
go on a multi-day canoe trip or two, into the interior of Algonquin
Park.

Duration:

The job will start on July 25 and last until September 14.
