Reporting
- This
position reports directly to the CEO weekly via written report; - The
Campus Director is a key member of the Akilah Executive Team; - Reporting
includes a combination of in-person & virtual communications.
I.
Strategic Development & Management
Strategic Development & Management
- Work
closely with the Akilah CEO to provide leadership and vision in the
development/implementation of the Akilah Bugesera Campus, including all
programs: academic, leadership, mentorship, internship and campus
enterprises. - Lead
and inspire Akilah staff by defining organizational values; promoting
collaborative work environment, clearly communicating expectations to
staff, recognizing staff and students as merited; motivate staff,
community partners and board members in the direction of our institutional
goals. - Manage
and oversee Akilah staff to ensure institutional goals and objectives are
being carried out effectively and to ensure team morale is positive; - Provide
mentorship, supervision, leadership and professional development
opportunities to the Akilah staff; - Oversee
all business operations in a way that realizes the organizational mission,
ensures excellence, respects the surrounding community and leadership and
encourages creativity and innovation across the campus.

- Collaboratively
lead and oversee the Akilah Farm with the Agricultural Director.

Finances
Finances
- Oversee
financial staff to ensure transparent and effective management of: (1) the
campus budget; (2) financial transactions; and (3) compliance with legal
and regulatory requirements;

Operations
Operations
- Work
closely with Kigali Campus HR/Ops Manager to build and implement internal
operating systems, such as administrative and facilities management
policies, that effectively govern daily operations; - Oversee
the implementation of such policies to ensure effective and smart
operations; - Develop
new, innovative and necessary business practices to build organizational
capabilities and capacity to ensure excellence, improve efficiency and
effectiveness, and support current and future needs on the Bugesera
campus; - As
needed, work with the global Executive Team* to develop new systems to
support growth; - In
collaboration with HR/Ops Manager, capture best practices over time to
develop new tools intended to effectively and smoothly orient new staff
and help retired staff transition out of the organization in accordance
with policy.

Academic Quality
Academic Quality
- Collaborate
and proactively support the Academic Director to ensure an
academically rigorous program that enables Akilah to effectively fulfill
its mission in Bugesera. - Meet
weekly with Academic Director.

Student Issues/Admissions
Student Issues/Admissions
- Manage
Student Life Associate (as applicable), Counselor and Admissions
Department; - Enforce
Akilah Community Pledge & play lead role in promoting organizational
and community values to student body; - Enforce
the Student Handbook; manage and resolve student issues, especially
behavior/discipline; - Replicate
the Kigali model of Student-Staff Forum and Student Government
in Bugesera in order to communicate regularly with Akilah students and
ensure a dependable & transparent platform for student input and
concerns.

External Relations
External Relations
- Liaise
with local community members and strategic partners; seek new mentors for
Akilah’s Mentorship Program; - Represent
Akilah at local meetings and events with the permission of CEO; - Host
visiting donors and stakeholders; - Recruit
and support local Advisory Council members in alignment with new campus
and Diploma Programs;

Communications and Outreach
Communications and Outreach
- Work
with Director of Admissions, and Marketing staff to develop strategy to demonstrate
Akilah’s impact and results to donors and supporters in Rwanda; - Ensure
all materials intended for public consumption are approved
by the relevant Akilah officials.

Facilities & Equipment Management
Facilities & Equipment Management
- Oversee
and ensure that Akilah Operations staff effectively manages the following:
- Infrastructure
in good, working condition - Grounds
Maintenance (grass/shrubs, cleanliness of premises, etc.) - Computer
Lab oversight & rule enforcement - Office
procurement; Approve payments for local/regular vendors, contractors - Security
Guards - Keys
Control & Management - Inventory
of Equipment and Furniture (includes IT and Akilah souvenirs)

a degree from an institute of higher education; - Have
more than 7 years of professional experience in operations, management, or
a related field; - Have

well in teams and follow established protocols and procedures. - Demonstrated
passion for working with young women, an unshakable belief in their
