Ajprodho-Jijukirwa Project Coordinator Job Vacancy in Kigali, Rwanda

The Youth Association for Human Rights Promotion and Development (AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA) with the financial grant from UNICEF, under the project entitled “LEGAL AID FOR CHILDREN AND GBV VICTIMS REFERRED THROUGH MAISON D’ACCCES A LA JUSTICE (MAJ) AND ONE STOP
CENTERS”, operating in Karongi, Rutsiro, Nyamasheke, Rusizi, Nyanza, Huye, Gisagara, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Nyagatare, Kicukiro, Nyarugenge as well as in Gasabo Districts, is seeking to recruit one experienced Project Coordinator who will be based at AJPRODHO’s head office based in Kigali, with frequent travel in those districts to support paralegal in providing qualitative legal aid to the above mentioned project beneficiaries.

I. POSITION : PROJECT COORDINATOR(1)
AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA is seeking self motivated, dynamic and competent personnel to ensure legal aid is provided to detained children and GBV victims in the above mentioned districts.

II. WORK STATION
The Project Coordinator will be stationed at AJPRODHO headquarters in Kigali, with frequent travel to different above mentioned districts to supervise paralegals and for technical support once need arises, based on the planned activities.

III. TASKS
The Project Coordinator shall be entrusted with the overall smooth implementation of the project activities in Karongi, Rutsiro, Nyamasheke, Rusizi, Nyanza, Huye, Gisagara, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Nyagatare, Kicukiro, Nyarugenge as well as in Gasabo Districts. In particular, the Project Coordinator shall be entrusted with the following duties :
• Coordinate and supervise zone paralegals working on field in this project and compile their reports ;
• Offer legal aid to children facing criminal prosecution and GBV victims referred to Maison d’Accès à la Justice (MAJ) and One Stop Centers. This shall involve visiting all the police stations, One Stop Centers and MAJ in those Districts ;
• Screen cases for children which require legal representation/assistance, assign them to the contracted legal counsel and supervise them through zone paralegals ;
• Develop a monitoring questionnaire
• Undertake trial monitoring and produce a report ;
• Conduct M&E visits to ascertain projects results ;
• Produce progress narrative reports to be presented to the organization and to the Donor ;
• Undertake any other assignment deemed relevant by the Organization in the interest of fulfilling its mission.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS
• Hold a Bachelors Degree in law.
• Fluency in written and spoken English, French and Kinyarwanda.
• Demonstrated background in child rights and judicial procedures
• Proven experience in Project management with a familiarization with detainees rights.
• Solid knowledge in computer writing (MS-WORD and Excel and Power point programs)
• Be able to work in a team ;
• Ready to start immediately
